Faced with cholera outbreaks, the Ministries of Health of Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo implemented mass vaccination campaigns with the support from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and WHO.

The campaign in Cameroon targeted 531,000 people in 3 regions (coastal, south, and southwest) and started on August 1, 2020. In DRC, the campaign took place at the end of July and despite difficulties encountered, including the spread of rumors and security, 93% of the target population was reached with  978,626 people were vaccinated.

Other campaigns are taking place in Uganda and in Mozambique showing that countries are able take measures to avoid the spread of COVID-19 while protecting their populations against cholera.
