The meeting addressed ongoing challenges related to cholera and reviewed progress towards the Global Roadmap to Ending Cholera by 2030. The recent intensification of cholera outbreaks, particularly in new and vulnerable areas, has been alarming, with over 620,000 cases reported in 29 countries. Despite these challenges, including funding and operational hurdles, significant strides have been made. The GTFCC has accompanied 11 countries for the development of their national cholera plans. Since June 2023, the global task force has supported 21 reactive vaccination campaigns, published 29 technical documents and carried out multiple deployments for technical assistance and capacity building.

During the meeting, partners agreed on the urgent need to scale up coordination capacities at global level and country support to facilitate the development and implementation of National Cholera Plans, identification of PAMIs, among other needs. Partners unanimously recognized that efforts are required on advocacy to increase the political focus on cholera and facilitate necessary investments, specifically in water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) infrastructure, vaccine production, and rapid response mechanisms to advance towards the 2030 goals.
