Vision et mission

The GTFCC is the leading partnership in the fight against cholera. We unite over 50 organizations - including NGOs, academic institutions, and UN agencies - to combat cholera through global initiatives and country support.

Our vision

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit

We recognize that cholera is a disease of inequity

Cholera is an ancient illness that today sickens and kills only the poorest and most vulnerable people on Earth. As such, controlling cholera is a moral obligation as well as a critical step to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

We acknowledge that every death from cholera is preventable with the tools we have today

Ending cholera is within our reach. The multi-sector approach to cholera control outlined in the Global Roadmap – including oral cholera vaccine (OCV) and WASH services – can prevent cholera outbreaks before they happen. By targeting highly endemic areas – “hotspots” – that experience cholera time and again, we will not only reduce the burden of cholera, but also effectively prioritize the delivery of WASH solutions to those most in need, achieving maximum impact.

We commit to support countries preventing large outbreaks in crisis situations by detecting cholera outbreaks early, responding immediately, and containing them rapidly.

We pledge to invest in the prevention of cholera

Cholera is an ancient illness that today sickens and kills only the poorest and most vulnerable people on Earth. As such, controlling cholera is a moral obligation as well as a critical step to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

We declare that now is the time to accelerate action against cholera at country and global levels

We aim to synchronize efforts and investments towards a coordinated, multi-sectoral approach to cholera control at country level. We encourage a phased approach that takes into consideration the current conditions on the ground, assisting each country to set a realistic and achievable goal for cholera control.

We commit to full support for the implementation of the 2030 Global Roadmap

We hold ourselves accountable for the targets outlined in the Global Roadmap monitoring framework – including a 90 percent reduction in deaths from cholera by 2030 – and pledge to act with urgency to realize a world free from the threat of cholera.

Our mission

We foster institutional and operational partnerships at both local and global levels, ensuring that cholera is mainstreamed in multisectoral development initiatives.

Together, we can #EndCholera

Building a movement to end cholera

The GTFCC was created in 1992, following an unprecedented cholera outbreak in Peru.

2011

Following the emergence of cholera in Haiti, the 64th World Health Assembly called for the formal renewal of the GTFCC.

2014

The GTFCC was again revitalized to create new momentum around cholera control and begin further coordination of partners and activities.

2017

With the launch of Ending Cholera: A Global Roadmap to 2030, the GTFCC became the locus of a highly energized community of organizations, countries, and donors seeking to control cholera. Partner organizations signed the Declaration to End Cholera, committing their resources and expertise to carrying out the Global Roadmap.

2018

WHO member states passed a resolution at the 71st World Health Assembly committing to the Global Roadmap. That same year, at the WHO Regional Committee for Africa, 47 African countries adopted a regional framework in alignment with the Roadmap.
